Research Interns for Office of Chief Executive Print E-mail

Research Interns:

KHRP is looking for 1-2 individuals to act as research interns on a special, long-term project working to promote dialogue and build civil society engagement in Turkey.  Interns will provide invaluable research and support to the Chief Executive and KHRP team in the research and writing of reports, position papers and other materials.

Interested individuals should be able to start in or around August 2010 and be able to commit to a minimum of 3-6 months, with the entire project lasting one year.

The internships will provide the opportunity to research and write brief position papers and reports on a diverse array of humanitarian rights issues affecting the Kurdish regions.  There may be the opportunity for some travel within the UK and abroad, with all travel expenses being covered.

Essential Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with fluency in English
  • Experience conducting independent research and analysis
  • Experience and knowledge of human rights/humanitarian law
  • Graduate or postgraduate of a relevant discipline
  • An understanding/interest in working in the non-governmental sector and civil society organisations and the environment in which they operate
  • Computer literacy and good typing skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability meet deadlines and to work under pressure when necessary
  • Flexible approach

Desirable Skills:

  • Working knowledge of another language
